Taken January 2000 from Muscat to Salalah

This hour-and-a-half flight down to the south of the country is a treat, especially if you go first class. The food is spectacular - I had an amazing chicken biryani - and it's not only served on china but with heavy silver-plated cutlery as well. Being an Islamic country, the airline is dry, of course, but I'm a teetotaler anyway, so not having any booze is never a problem. That might, of course, annoy some. However, the general atmosphere on board is as cordial and as genuine as you can possibly have aboard an aircraft.

As for economy service, the food is still good, and the seats are amazingly comfortable by the usual standards. On the A-310 they even had footrests, something quite rare anywhere.

All in all, it's hats off to Oman Air! Definitely recommended.
