I have flown with Malev Airlines regularly since 2000. They used to be a lot better back then. My last flight, the plane was almost 2 hours late and we had to rush to get to our next plane in Budapest. The food quality is low and the flight attendants are often rude and ignore passenger requests. We were given a seat at the very end of the plane where not only could we not put our chairs back (an 8 flight!) to relax, but there was also no room in the overhead compartment for our luggage because of the plane equipment that was there. When asked for assistance on where to put our handbags, the attendant was very rude and acted annoyed.
On our return flight we were not assigned a seat on the trans-Atlantic flight, so we had to wait for 20 minutes by the customer service desk.
Even after this, I thought I'd give them another shot since they have good flight times (relative to other airlines). After purchasing our tickets, Malev decides to cancel all of their flights from Toronto and New York from mid Nov to April 1! We had already made all our plans for the trip and arranged for a pickup at the airport. Transfer to other Airlines was offered, but their flight times were horrible! I found this very inresponsible from them and insulting to their customers, especially their loyal ones.
I have decided to never purchase another Malev Airlines ticket again, even if it means paying a couple of hundred dollars more. I am very disappointed in them and would not recommend them to anyone planing to fly with this Airline.
